Amazon’s fall Prime Day event, called Prime Big Deal Days, is an Apple enthusiast’s dream. Nearly everything Apple, from MacBooks and iPads to AirPods and Beats headphones, has been discounted by hundreds of dollars. And while $250 off a MacBook Air is a hell of a deal, my favorite Apple discount for Prime Day so far is this $50 deal that you snag on the recently released Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Apple isn’t known for discounting its brand-new products all that often. So, considering the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is less than a month old, being able to save any money on it, let alone $50, is a legit bargain. Anyone looking for a new smartwatch should have this Apple Watch Ultra 2 deal high on their list. But you might want to act fact since it could sell out at any moment.
Below, I’ll go into more detail about what makes this Apple Watch Ultra 2 deal so great. And if you’re looking for more deals, check out our live roundup of all the best Prime Day deals.

Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 adds to the big rugged original with a brighter 3000-nit display, a new S9 processor, better GPS and Find My precision, and more. You can snag this newer model for more than $60 cheaper than you’ll find the original.
The Ultra 2 has the best battery life of any Apple Watch
Perhaps the biggest drawback of wearing something like the Apple Watch Series 9 is that it requires a daily recharge. No matter how much I enjoy wearing the Apple Watch (and I really enjoy it), needing to recharge it every single day is a bit of a nuisance.
With the Apple Watch Ultra 2, you can go at least a full day and a half before getting into Low Power Mode territory, and could likely stretch it into a third day if you had to. As someone who uses the watch’s built-in GPS (a notorious battery drainer) several times a day, this feature is a game-changer.
The Action Button will change how you use the Apple Watch
In addition to the larger battery, the Ultra line possesses yet another feature absent in the Series 9: the Action Button. Instead of the uber-sleek design of the Series 9, the Ultra 2 features a much bulkier case that houses a large button opposite the digital crown.
This button can be programmed to run a number of shortcuts but my go-to is using it to bring up the workout menu and to then start a workout. It completely changed the way I interact with the Apple Watch — and I can’t imagine wearing one without it.
For example, when navigating to the workout menu on the Series 9 and selecting an exercise, the exercise promptly starts after a three-second countdown. It doesn’t wait to sync its GPS; it doesn’t give me some time to situate myself; it just counts down from three and the workout begins.
On the Ultra 2, however, the Action Button is used to actually start the exercise. So, once I click on something like an outdoor run, the activity screen pops up and just sits there attempting to sync a GPS signal and, ultimately, waiting for me to click to Action Button to trigger that three-second countdown. This is the kind of control I want out of a fitness tracker — especially one that costs upward of $750.
It’s a powerful smartwatch and fitness tracker
The Ultra 2 does everything the Series 9 does, in terms of both smartwatch functionality and health and fitness tracking. It uses the same operating system, gets call and text notifications, has wide app support, and offers the same wide range of trackable activities and available health tools.
But there are a few key features that separate it from the Series 9. Most notable of which are its brighter screen, which is good for high-lighting conditions outdoors, and its water-resistance, which makes it especially useful for those who enjoy water sports like scuba and free diving. It even offers unique watch faces capable of displaying an array of data.
Yes, the Ultra 2 is expensive, but this deal makes it more reasonable
We’ve arrived at the Ultra 2’s most significant feature: its $800 price tag. There’s no getting around the fact that the Ultra 2 is expensive — it absolutely is. But this is why a $50 discount during Prime Day makes it even more attractive to buy. You won’t find a better combination of battery life, smartwatch utility, and health and fitness tracking anywhere else, especially if you’re an iPhone or iOS user.
